There are many more questions today that I’m presenting to the Horn of Africa. A question like, what is paper made from? The answer would be wood ofcourse, because paper derives from trees… correct? So when I mention that paper certifications and achievements are idol worshiping, what will you say? When receiving a certificate, it typically is given by paper, which is nothing wrong because it's standard procedure. The issue is certificate hoarding and PhD hoarding. Did you know that your enemy owns the colleges you seek? Even in our countries, the enemy owns the school or has ownership stock. You are an achievement hoarder versus simply securing specific goals to achieve your success. And get this, college is another way to be indebted to your enemy, instead of your community. How many of you today are indebted to your community versus your enemy? How many of you EXPECT the international community to get us out of trouble?
If you are never challenged about your actions and always congratulated, you have no reason to question if your decisions are correct or not. The Bible is an up to date document and it speaks about us (the Horn of Africa) as the people of ያሁአ and what's going on with us today. In the scripture below, I have added round brackets ‘( )’ and square brackets ‘[ ]’ to give insight that ያሁአ is in fact speaking to the Horn of Africa. For example…
27) ያሁአ will scatter you (Horn of Africa) among the peoples; and among the nations (around the world) to which ያሁአ will lead you away [from our own country that is full of wealth], you will be left few in number. *Note: Few in number in the future from being killed off by war and execution of whatever country you’re comfortably living in now.
28) There you will serve gods which are the product of human hands, made of wood and stone, which can’t see, hear, eat or smell.
What are some products of human hands and idol worshiping? According to Rethink Now, there are 8 strong traits we operate in daily that we do not consider to be idol worshiping. Note that when doing things in moderation, it’s not idolatry. Here’s the list…
Identity Our identity might be one the biggest idols worshiped today. We have largely abandoned who we are in ያሁአ and placed our identity in other things. Whether it be our social media following, our position at work, our abilities/skills, or the achievements we are after, many have their identity wrapped up in the wrong thing.
Money/Material Things Western culture has bowed to money and possessions for generations. The pursuit of money and the acquisition of things is a guiding force for many. It’s certainly an idol.
Jobs/Status Jobs used to just be a means to an end. For most people it was just what you did to provide for your family. Now, what you do has become who you are. Job dissatisfaction is at an all time high. Could it be because we’ve elevated what we do to who we are? The answer is yes.
Physical Appearance You don’t have to look very far to see an advertisement that promises to “fix” our physical appearance. To make us look better, younger, or like your favorite celebrity. Why are those so common? They work. Many of us worship our physical appearance. We spend hours in the gym, thousands on products, and constantly think about what others are thinking about us.
Entertainment We are obsessed with being entertained. From Netflix to vacations and podcasts to TikTok. We LOVE entertainment in many forms. Love might not be strong enough, we are obsessed. Again, as with the other modern day idols, it’s not that entertainment is bad. It can be a good thing. But when our lives become all about the search for entertainment and chasing the best experiences we can find, then it becomes an idol. It’s more important than ያሁአ.
Sex Sex might be the only thing we think about more than money. It’s everywhere in our culture. We have taken a gift from ያሁአ and made it into the god of our lives. And for many, their lives are controlled by sex. To even question the sexual ethic in our society will bring outrage and defensiveness, showing how tied to our idol we actually are. Our sexual identity, sexual practices, and sex-filled lives are sacred to us.
Comfort There is an endless list of products promising to simplify and add comfort to your life. We have made our lives much easier and much more comfortable than at any other time in history. Tasks that used to take all day can be done in minutes. Many menial tasks are now automated. While that’s a good thing, our pursuit in life should not be comfort alone.
Influence/Fame With the advent of social media almost anyone has the opportunity to become famous and gain influence. All it takes is one viral video or one hot take and suddenly you can have thousands and thousands of followers. Past generations tend to idolize their jobs and social status. Younger generations are more drawn toward fame and influence. This has led many to endless chases, thus creating another modern day idol.
What have we learned today? The answer is that worshiping idols is a distraction that ያሁአ doesn’t want us to operate in. When we are distracted, we do not have the protection in ያሁአ for our lives in which we desire. Can any idol protect you? How about your social media followers, are they willing to protect you? Man can’t save us Ethiopians, only ያሁአ will save us fully. There may be programs that aid us as a people here and there, but nothing to save the entire Ethiopian people. But ያሁአ will save us all from our enemies when worship him, not idols.
Call on his name today! Cry out to him to save our people to not suffer so much through war and assassination. Call on ያሁአ (YAHWAH) today!
