Immigration for Horn Africans

While it is wonderful to prosper in life, it is not good to forget about the culture in which we derived. The younger generation of Horn Africans aren’t keeping the history of our culture. Returning to the destroyed regions of Northern Ethiopia isn’t an option for our younger generation. They are progressive, but with no power to protect themselves. They have purchase power to gain possessions, to live a wealthy life with no ethereal power that protects us as a people in ያሁአ. Why obtain wealth if we do not contribute back into our communities? The older generation is causing our culture to be erased because of not being assertive in preserving our customs. But maintaining liberal rights to operate as Horn Africans is dying. Next thing you know, your grandchildren are American (and other countries) with no foundational history. It happened to me, yes my family migrated here in the early 1900’s and completely destroyed our Eritrean heritage by changing names and forgetting our history. They desired to be American versus being Horn Africans, and created a new agenda by keeping American customs.

We have spiritually lost our way as Ethiopians and no one is speaking against this because America, and countries alike, are looked on to be the answer to all troubles. So when I question young Ethiopian-Americans about the culture of their parents and grandparents, they have no idea how to respond.

The Chashah are maintaining cultural customs here in America and have no issues of operating in diversified technology, business opportunity startups, innovative center alternatives. The key is not forgetting cultural protocols just because you’re in a different country. Other cultures seek business and employment opportunities outside of their native lands so they can send money back to their families. The Ethiopian diaspora are in each country of the world. And though Northern Ethiopia’s infrastructure has been demolished, we still have the alternative to assist our people. This is why Chashah Monastery is seeking Horn Africans to migrate to the United States for a new way of living while keeping our heritage in place to benefit spiritually and financially. All of our Qess leaders have engaged in practices that has destroyed our power within ያሁአ, and we are left with being renamed as the people of the country we migrated.

Chashah Monastery’s Department of Immigration (DOI) has begun its inception and will begin working on assisting Horn Africans in the diaspora starting in January 2024. We will preserve our rich cultural history, and prosper our people with the wealth of the world.
